Let’s Pledge to reduce Tobacco Consumption -
Tobacco is a poison addiction which leads to a number of health issues. It is available in many forms in market as cigarette, bidis, khaini (chewable tobacco) etc. Everyone knows it causes lung diseases and cancer, but that is not the only adverse effect of tobacco. It is major contributor to stroke and heart attacks. It can also affect blood vessels of limbs leading to pain and even gangrene. More than 8 million people die each year due to tobacco use. Not only mortality tobacco contributes to toward decreasing the quality of life by leading to COPD which progressive lung disease is leading to shortness of breath, cough and recurrent hospitalization. World tobacco day is celebrated to make world aware of this effects of tobacco and to pledge against use of tobacco products. It is never too late to quit tobacco because it is the only intervention which is going to halt the progression of tobacco related lung disease and improve quality of life. Not only that tobacco smoking impacts family members by passive smoking so we should quit tobacco for our health as well of the health of our loved ones.
