Most people nowadays develop sleep problems at a young age. It is concerning as it may lead to negative consequences like daytime sleepiness, behavioural problems, learning issues, irritability, and motor vehicle accidents. Among the several sleeping issues that affect children, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and parasomnia are the most common. In OSA, the kids fail to rest well at night because of blockage in the airway. On the other hand, parasomnia involves sleepwalking, confusion arousals, sleep talking and sleep terrors during the first half of the night, and nightmares during the second half. Children with these rest problems should seek help soon.
