One term that is often used when investing in rural areas is Khasra Number. This number is given to an agricultural plot or a land parcel in rural areas. It is equivalent to a plot number or a survey number that is given to a particular piece of land in urban areas. Khasra number is a Persian term. The word Khasra is often heard or used when accessing land records – be it online or offline. A Khasra number does not always remain the same for a plot. It is a part of a document called Sharja and changes when the plot is sold or undergoes mutation. For example : If a plot is given the Khasra number as 76 and later this plot is divided into two parts, then the new Khasra numbers for the two new plots will be 76/1 and 76/2 respectively.
