Vapor recovery: In the oil and gas industry, product vapor is produced by flashing from high pressure to low pressure, gas-liquid separation in separators, and evaporation from storage tanks. The vapors generated contain light molecular particles in the liquid. Vapor, if recovered, can be converted into a usable product that helps increase yields from the facility. Most applications fall into the category of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
Some of these compounds affect air quality and cause air pollution and are classified as hazardous air pollutants (HAP).
The recovery of these vapors eliminates airborne contaminants and thus stops air pollution.
Over the past few years, due to increased awareness about the loss of valuable products and stricter emission norms, recovery of manufactured vapors has become mandatory.
