Tulsi Manas Mandir is one of the most famous and ancient temples in the holy city of Banaras. The temple has both historical and cultural significance in Hinduism as the ancient Hindu epic Shri Ramcharitmanas was originally written at this place by the great Hindu poet, saint, reformer, and philosopher Shri Goswami Tulsidas in the 16th century. One of the famous Hindu epics, the Ramayana was originally written in the Sanskrit language by the Sanskrit poet Valmiki between 500 and 100 BCE. Being in the Sanskrit language, this epic was not accessible and understandable to the general public. In the 16th century, the great poet Goswami Tulsidas wrote the Ramayana in the Awadhi dialect of the Hindi language, and the Awadhi version was called the Ramcharitmanas.
