The crucial market is where companies float shares to the population in an initial public offering (IPO) to raise funds. A stock market, equity market, or share market is the conglomeration of buyers and sellers of stocks (also called shares), which symbolize ownership claims on businesses; these may involve securities listed on a public stock exchange, in addition to stock that is only traded confidentially, such as shares of private companies which are sold to investors.
