Doctors should confirm that their selected online continued medical education program has the approval and accreditation of their country's governing medical association, such as the American Medical Association (AMA) in the United States or the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education in Europe (EACCME). Additionally, programs delivering CME credits may also be accredited by the International Academy of Continuing Medical Education (IACME). Confirming the legitimacy of their program's certification assures physicians that their time and effort will be counted as CME credits.
In India, all practicing doctors under the age of 65 years must engage in at least 30 hours of CME every five years to be eligible for license renewal. Indian medical institutions offer seminars and workshops that offer CME credits. In addition, CME points can also be obtained by enrolling for and completing online CME programs.
