Repair Of Crankshaft YANMAR 6N18LSV Auxiliary Engine by RA Power

RA Power Solutions performed a comprehensive in-situ repair of a YANMAR 6N18L-SV auxiliary engine aboard a vessel at Fujairah Port. A serious accident involved a vessel's YANMAR 6N18L-SV auxiliary engine. Three technicians, including a metal stitching expert and a crankshaft grinding specialist, were dispatched to the Fujairah Port, Dubai vessel. The YANMAR 6N18L-SV auxiliary engine experienced a significant failure because the connecting rod bolts in crankpin unit #02 failed, causing the connecting rod to hit the engine block. The area of the engine block sustained severe damage and the casting was shattered into multiple pieces. RA Power Inspect the damaged crankpin unit #02 revealed an ovality of 0.16 mm. The radius fillet profile on both sides was severely damaged. RA Power Repaired the Crankshaft and Engine Block of YANMAR 6N18L-SV. The damaged engine block was repaired by our technicians using the metal lock process. The total length of the crack was 46 inches. The engine was commissioned, and its performance was observed to be satisfactory.
