History

It is believed that the pitbull breed’s ancestors came from the extinct breeds of old English terriers and old English bulldogs, which are both descendants of the old English terrier. When they originally came to the United States in the nineteenth century, they were known as bull and terriers. The red coloured noses of American pit bull terrier is what led to them being renamed as or popularised as the red nose Pitbull by the United Kennels Club. A total of four pitbull breeds were examined by the pitbull group: the American pitbull terrier, Staffordshire Bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, and American Bully, all of which are descended from the American pitbull terrier.
