"The process of bill discounting begins with the business submitting the unpaid invoice or bill of exchange to the financial institution. The institution then evaluates the creditworthiness of the debtor and determines the discount rate based on the risk involved. If the financial institution approves the transaction, it will pay the business the discounted value of the invoice or bill of exchange. The financial institution then collects the full amount from the debtor when the invoice or bill of exchange becomes due.
