Following the enactment of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Punjab Pollution Control Board was constituted in 1975 by Punjab Government Notification No. 6186-BR II (4) 75/24146 dated 30.07.1975, in order to maintain the wholesomeness of water. Following the passage of other environmental laws, the Punjab Pollution Control Board in the state of Punjab was given responsibility for executing the requirements of those laws. The Indian Parliament has enacted the following legislation in order to establish uniform restrictions across the country for broad environmental issues that threaten our people's health and safety, as well as the health and safety of our flora and animals, and to avoid environmental degradation:
