Kudremukh Trek
Located deep in the heart of the Western Ghats, the Kudremukh Peak is situated in the National Reserve Forest. The peak is located in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Therefore, there are chances that you will come across the occasional peacock and Sambhar deer! Standing tall and proud at a height of 6207 feet is the third highest peak of Karnataka.
Spanning a total of 18 km, the Kudremukh Trek takes up to 9 hours to finish. The trek is of a moderate grade of difficulty as the terrain starts with a gradual incline but soon gets steeper as you get further. Along the way, you will cross many streams bubbling through patches of dense foliage, especially if the trek is undertaken right after the monsoons! However, besides the occasional patches, the trail mostly passes through grasslands and meadows, which provide a stunning vista. You will find yourself marvelling at the serenity of the mountains again and again!
During the trek, you will be staying in camps on a multiple-sharing basis. Revel in the sheer joy of camping in the mountains, and enjoying a cosy bonfire and swapping stories around it! You can also choose to experience the warmth and hospitality of a homestay for this trek and explore the local culture!
