In Hackathons, the learner is actively engaged in posing questions, investigating, experimenting, solving problems, assuming responsibility. As experiential learning tools, Hackathons can motivate students to enhance their knowledge and abilities and bring about greater collaborative and cohesive teamwork (Wurdinger & Carlson, 2010; Kolb & Kolb, 2005; Thomas, 2013). The elements of the hackathon, for these reasons, while originally relevant in the context of technology as intensive computer-programming events, can be leveraged to teach organisational or management consulting processes as well.
