Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology - [IIEST] is a private university inaugurated in 1856 situated in Shibpur, West Bengal. It was accredited by UGC, Before taking its original name, IIEST, Shibpur was called the Bengal Engineering College. Bishop's college stood on the site before IIEST was built. Students will be able to benefit from the organization's research with a variety of disciplines and world-class technologies to work on and support their studies. It is the second oldest college in the country and ranks 21st among engineering colleges in NIRF's rankings.
The university is governed by the National Institute of Technology Council. A number of other colleges are affiliated with the university in various fields. It offers 70 courses across 16 departments, such as Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Earth Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture, Town and Regional Planning, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics.
