One can register an NGO in India under the three acts in India: Indian Trust Act, 1882, Societies Registration Act, 1862, and Companies Act, 2013. However, before commencing the registration process, one needs to:
1. Formulate the mission and vision of the NGO. Just as you would require for a company, an NGO needs to have goals and a mode for achieving those goals
2. Form a governing body, which is one of the first steps in the NGO start-up process.
