To register a trademark in India, follow these seven steps: First, conduct a thorough trademark search to ensure the desired mark isn't already in use. Second, prepare the trademark application, including details of the mark and the goods or services it represents. Third, file the application with the Trademark Registry, either online or offline. Fourth, the application undergoes a formal examination by the registrar to check for compliance with regulations. Fifth, if the application passes examination, it is published in the Trademark Journal for public opposition. Sixth, if no oppositions are raised within four months, or if oppositions are resolved in favor of the applicant, the trademark proceeds towards registration. Finally, once approved, the trademark registration certificate is issued, granting the applicant exclusive rights to use the mark for ten years, with the option for renewal.
