The polytechnic was established in 1980 with a certificate course in Library Science and Radio & TV Technology. The first diploma course in Chemical Eng. (Pulp & Paper Technology) was started in the year 1983. The status of the polytechnic became grant-in-aid w.e.f. 1 April, 1990. At present, the polytechnic is organized into 6 engineering departments. All the courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Haryana State Board of Technical Education, Punch kula. The institute is committed to creating an ambience for nurturing innovation, creativity and excellence in students. Apart from the academic activities, the co-curricular activities, sports, cultural and social-service activities, form important parts of the life of the students. The institute has excellent infrastructure, state-of-the-art hostels both for boys and girls. The campus also provides sports and other recreational facilities. The alumni have distinguished themselves through their achievements and contributions to industry, academics, business, government and social domains and supporting the institute in different ways. The institute has strong linkage with industry.
