HDI flexible PCB

High-density interconnects or HDI circuit board is the printed circuit board that has higher wiring density per cm as compared to normally printed circuit boards. In general, HDI flexible PCB is defined as PCBs with one or all of the following: micro vias; blind and buried vias; built-up laminations, and considerations of signal having high performance. PCB manufacturing technology has been improving alongside other associated technologies that demand compact and high-speed solutions. HDI boards are thinner; components via, pads, copper traces, and spaces are thinner. Consequently, HDIs offer denser wiring which means, the PCBs are lighter in weight, compact, and of lower layers. Instead of having a few PCBs in a device, the functionality that was hitherto in previous boards can be contained in one HDI board.
