Hand pumps are pumps that are powered by hand rather than electricity or air. Pumps for the hands might be piston or double diaphragm, centrifugal or positive displacement.
These pumps are intended for manual centerlised lubrication systems in light duty automatic equipment such as small power presses, packaging machines, milling machines, single spindle automats, looms, surface grinders, and pouch filling machines, among other applications. Typically, these pumps are good for 2-40 lubrication points.
The piston is activated by pulling a cam handle, and it has a spring return piston architecture. A strainer at the inflow port and a pressure reduction mechanism are also significant characteristics, both of which are essential for good metering cartridge functioning. Always use clean oil to extend the life of these pumps and assure trouble-free operation. Using dry pumps is not a smart idea. Oil viscosities ranging from 40 to 1000cst are suitable for pumps.
