A dual-action flame detector called IPES-IR/UV detects electromagnetic radiation from a flame in the infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) spectral regions (UV). The IR range (4.2–4.6 m) and UV range (150–300 nm) maximum spectral sensitivity regions are determined by optical filters and receiver design.
IPES-IR/UV is intended to identify fires that occur in the detectors' fields of view and to send emergency alerts to fire control, fire alarm, and fire control equipment.
