Description
In manufacturing a printed circuit board applying the surface finish is one of the last steps. After the solder mask process on a hard gold PCB the surface finish is typically applied. It is basically designed so that it can prevent oxidation of the remaining exposed copper. Whereas the majority of the circuitry is covered by the solder mask. This is necessary because oxidized copper cannot be soldered.
