Excessive sleepiness can be explained as an increased desire to fall asleep during the day. Although it is common to feel sleepy once in a while when you are short on sleep, experiencing repeated bouts is a sign of excessive sleepiness. The symptoms may emerge due to poor quality sleep, chronic lack of sleep, sleep-wake disorders, or health issues like chronic pain, obesity, cancer, and hypothyroidism. To treat this sleep problem, following good sleep hygiene and treatment of underlying health conditions is recommended.
