A 42-year-patient Mallesham, hailing from Medipally mandal, Karimnagar, who was suffering from a very rare medical condition known as Takayasu’s arteritis.
Senior interventional radiologist, Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, Dr Suresh Giragani said Takayasu’s arteritis is a rare type of vasculitis, a group of disorders that cause blood vessels inflammation. The medical condition damaged the large artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body and its main branches.
According to Dr Suresh, a stent was employed to unclog the arteries and revive blood flow to the brain. The procedure was taken-up successfully and the patient had recovered, doctors said. and also managed to revive another patient from Karimnagar, Md Vilayath Khan after 10-hours of experiencing a brain stroke.
