Design and Active Edge of Google Pixel 2 XL

Opinions about last year's Google Pixel phones varied. Some saw them as a promising start to the series, resembling the iPhone in style, while others considered them just another attempt at futuristic design that missed the mark.

Although the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL maintained the split two-color pairing of glass and aluminum, the company has made several enhancements to better meet mid-range expectations. One of these enhancements is the addition of IP67 waterproofing.

The majority of the back now consists of aluminum, which gives it a sticky texture designed by Google. This makes it easier to hold the Pixel 2 XL without the risk of it slipping out of your hand.
The glass on the upper part of the phone serves as an accent rather than playing a functional role in the design. Inside, you'll find a large rear camera, flashlight, and related sensors.

A clever idea from Google is the double-tap feature on the back of the phone, which is accentuated by a metal ring around the camera. This helps recreate the distinctive look that was somewhat lost in the original design with a mirrored back on the Pixel camera.
