Cysts formed in PKD are non-cancerous sacs that are round in shape and contain fluid. The cysts keep on growing, and they can grow too large. When many cysts grow in your kidneys, they can damage the neighbouring tissue leading to kidney damage. The problem may lead to kidney failure, and hence it is one of the top causes of kidney failure. With their progression, PKD may cause cysts to develop in other organs, including the liver, pancreas, etc.
