The North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) conducts a licensure examination for nurses who have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN are two different types of exams. After you graduate from a nursing school, one takes the NCLEX exam to obtain a nursing licence. A nursing licence allows you to practise in the state where you graduated from.
Nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN (Registered nurse) and NCLEX-PN (Certified practical nurse) exams in order to practise within their respective provinces or states. In order to obtain licensure or certification, an applicant must meet all requirements established by the state they wish to be licensed.
