Once you have registered a trademark that same symbol or a series of words cannot be used by any other organization, forever, as long as it remains in use proper paperwork is done and the required fees are paid.
This is also known as a service mark which symbolizes a brand name or logo that identifies the provider of a service. This may vary from a word, phrase, symbol, or design to some combination as well. This is how customers recognize the company’s marketplace and distinguish the organization from its competitors. The word trademark refers to both trademarks and service marks.
