Description

The England cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the five-Test series against India. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes has withdrawn from this series. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has informed this by issuing a statement on Friday (July 30). The reason behind this decision of Stokes is mental health and finger injury.
Stokes has been replaced by Craig Overton by the ECB for the Test series starting on August 4. Stokes' absence could prove to be a big problem for England. Stokes did not play in the Test series against New Zealand in early June, which England lost.
Let us tell you that during the first half of IPL 2021 in April, Stokes suffered a finger injury while taking a catch in the first match of Rajasthan Royals. Due to which he was also out of the tournament. After this, he returned to the field from the T20 Blast and also took charge of the team in the ODI and T20 series against Pakistan after the Corona positive case in the England camp.
Apart from this, he was also playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hardend tournament.
ECB director Ashley Giles said, "Stokes showed tremendous courage to speak openly about mental health. The mental health and well-being of our team members will be our primary focus. He (Stokes) will be given the time he needs and Looking forward to seeing us play cricket in the future."
