ATG injection is approved in the U.S. to treat patients with acquired aplastic anemia and to reduce the chance of organ rejection after an organ transplant. The atg injection may also be recommended to treat patients with MDS or reduce rejection following a bone marrow transplant. ATG injection is administered by IV infusion. The manufacturer states that ATG injection should be infused through an inline 0.22-μm filter into a high-flow vein. This drug has also been administered via a peripheral vein† in a few patients, but safety is not fully established and may increase the risk of DVT and thrombophlebitis.
