Description
An air operated diaphragm pump is a self-priming positive displacement pump driven by compressed air making the pump intrinsically safe. It works via two diaphragms that reciprocate back and forth via an air valve located in the main body of the pump. As one diaphragm fills with liquid the other discharges fluid through the outlet. There are balls within the pump which act as valves to enable the pump to be positive displacement. The balls rest on seats which enable the pump to seal internally.
