Australia found it difficult to overcome Sri Lanka in the Lahore final in 1996. The combined efforts of Skipper Mark Taylor and Ricky Ponting produced a fighting score of 241/7. But Sri Lanka's middle-order tenacity, led by Aravinda de Silva, was enough to win by seven wickets, causing Australia to lose their second straight final.
