Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, one of the oldest Hanuman temples in Varanasi, is located on the southern outskirts of Varanasi city between Assi Ghat and Banaras Hindu University. Sankat Mochan, which was founded by Saint Tulsidas, is very famous among the followers of Lord Hanuman. The word 'Sankat Mochan' means 'one who helps to remove sufferings'. It is said that by visiting this temple, their sufferings go away.
