Responsibilities:
VMC Machine & Fixture Setup: On vertical machining centers, install, mark, and fasten intricate workholding fixtures.
Assemble milling toolholders, collets, arbour adaptors, carbide end mills, face cutters, and taps. Calibrate tool length and height/diameter offsets using touch-off probes or offline presetting equipment.
First-Piece Prove-Out & Program Call-up: Launch G-code and M-code programs, do single-block dry runs with safety overrides activated, check high-speed look-ahead codes, confirm clearance Z-planes and carry out initial part prove-outs.
First-Piece Inspection & Process Handover: Before transferring the stabilised VMC process to operators, inspect first-off machined components using precision measuring equipment to obtain Quality First-Piece Approval.
Troubleshooting and Process Optimisation: Use SMED concepts to optimise coolant delivery, minimise changeover/setup times, fix tool deflection/vibration concerns, and fine-tune cutting feeds/speeds.

Required Skills:
Advanced VMC Machine Setup & Controller Proficiency: Practical experience using Fanuc, Siemens Sinumerik, Haas NextGen, or Heidenhain control systems to build up 3-, 4-, or 5-axis VMC machines.
Deep technical understanding of milling tool geometry, insert grade selection, offline presetting instruments, soft jaw boring, and precise fixture alignment employing dial indicators and edge finders is required for milling tooling, fixturing, and geometry calibration.
Expertise in interpreting intricate mechanical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbols, 3D surface callouts, and strict production tolerances is known as blueprint reading and GD&T literacy.
G-Code/M-Code Editing & Troubleshooting: The controller console's ability to read, modify, and adjust program lines during setup prove-outs
