Students will be able to login to Minecraft: Education Edition with their AISD email address. This information is available in the User Profile menu on the AISD Portal. When a student has entered an AISD email, the student will be required to input their student ID and password in an AISD Portal pop-up window. After Minecraft: Education Edition is installed, you must log in each time using your Austin ISD account: YouTube video Instructions for Installing on Austin ISD Student Chromebooks Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version Minecraft: Education Edition will require you to access the Minecraft installation page in the Google Play Store. Chromebooks for students should be able to locate the Google Play icon at the lower right corner of the screen. Only apps that have been approved by districts can be installed in the Google Play Store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button in Google Play. Directions For Installing On Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. You'll need to find the downloaded file, then open it. (It should either be in a new browser tab at the bottom of the browser or in the Windows Downloads folder.) The Windows operating system will guide you through the installation process. Select your language and accept the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until asked to click the "Install" button. The installation can take a few minutes before seeing a Finish button that will end the installation. Instructions for installing on Macintosh Computers Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft Education Edition for Macintosh. You'll need to locate the downloaded file, then open it. (It is likely to be in a new browser tab at the bottom of the browser or in the Downloads folder.) The Macintosh operating system will walk you through the process of installing. think of Choose your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. It is possible for the installation to take a while before you reach the Finish button. This will end the installation. Instructions for installing iPads. iPads Once the teacher has installed Minecraft Education Edition on an Austin ISD student iPad, students can access Minecraft. Locate the app in the Creator Apps group on the iPad during the school day. Download Minecraft on your iPad from the iTunes Store. Minecraft is a no-cost download. Click here to view the app on iTunes. Installing the Screencastify Screen Capture Extension A great way to demonstrate learning is to capture an actual demonstration of the learning via video. Screen-capturing video is a fantastic way for teachers to provide an online demonstration activity or for students to take a video of the digital product with their recorded voice describing the product. Screencastify is an Chrome extension approved by Austin ISD. Students and staff can add the extension to their Chrome Web Store. Instructions for students installing Screencastify Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store is available to students. From there, any approved app can be downloaded. This is the only way to install the Chrome app or Chrome extension on an Austin ISD Chromebook. On the Chromebook start the Chrome launcher, search and open the Chrome Web Store app. Click the Austin Independent School District link to browse the list of apps that are approved by the district. Capture Your Video Once the Screencastify extension is installed, all students are able to create videos up to 5 minutes. Make sure you practice your group presentation before you start recording. Keep in mind that the presentation must be less than two minutes long.
