The Sivagiri Mutt was built with the motto of ‘One God, One Religion and One Caste’. The temple is shaped in an octagonal shape. The temple worship is different from that of the others. Here, devotees can worship in their own way, either recite hymns or chants. They can pray to the Goddess according to their own way of religious culture. The Guru himself chose that spot because he felt mesmerized with the beauty of Varkala and decided to build the Mutt there.
