Pichavaram Mangrove Forest
Situated in the ancient city of Chidambaram, the Pichavaram mangrove forest is the world’s second largest mangrove forest. The entire forest takes just a day of your time. Pichavaram is one of the lesser known tourist destination which is a nature lover’s paradise.
Pichavaram Mangrove Forest
As you get on a boat ride which is the only form of safari inside the Pichavaram forest, you will feel the trees just creeping upon you as the forest becomes narrower as you engage in the boat safari. As you get deep inside you will feel the shadows of the tree that create a night like illusion even though it’s the md of the day.
With a cool air that mingles with the water blowing inside the canopy of trees, you can feel the cares just melting away. The water is only a couple of feet in depth and you even walk if you like the feel of mud against your body. There are also a few places in Pichavaram forest where marshy land is present but it is advisable not to step on those as they sink under your feet making it difficult to walk.
