Pallipuram Fort
Pallipuram Fort, located on Vypeen Island near Kochi in Kerala, proudly stands as India's oldest surviving European fort, erected by the Portuguese in 1503. Known locally as Ayikotta or Alikotta, this imposing hexagonal structure proudly retains traces of its European legacy. Captured by the Dutch in 1663, the fort eventually came under the ownership of the Travancore Maharaja in 1798.
