Organic Cumin are native to southwestern Asia including the Middle East, (Cuminum cyminum) is used in both whole and ground form as a spice. It is normally harvested from February to mid March and is called Jeera in Hindi. The aromatic seed like fruit is elongated, ovoid, 3 to 6 mm long, slightly bitter and has a warm flavour. The roasted and fried cumin seeds have a very unique, smoky, peppery flavour. It is used as a condiment, and is an ingredient in curry powders, seasonings of breads, cakes and cheese.
