Being the longest urban beach in India, the 6-kilometer-long Marina beach is situated along the Bay of Bengal. It is located 20 kilometres from Chennai International Airport and 600 kilometres from Kerala. It also has a harbour.
The Marina is well-known for its varied ecosystems, beauty, and atmosphere. However, since the turn of the 20th century, plastics, human waste, and other non-biodegradable materials have increased the pollution of this beach.
