Mahabaleshwar Temple
One of the most visited temples in the town is the mahabaleshwar temple, Gokarna which is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Hindu epics of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. The mesmerizing thing about this temple which attracts many tourists, is the 6 feet tall Shiva linga which is built using white granite and is the best example of the beauty of Dravidian architecture. The lord Shiva idol is a 1500 years old carved stone.
