If you are using QuickBooks Online, then the chart of accounts is managed in your company file. To delete a chart of accounts, you will need to delete your company file. If you are using QuickBooks Desktop, then you will need to delete the Chart of Accounts from within the program. If you want to delete your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks, you will need to go into the Preferences and then select “Chart of Accounts.” You can then click on the box next to each account that you want to delete.
Once you have selected all of the accounts that you would like to delete, click “Delete Selected Accounts” at the bottom of the screen.
