Hamas leaderrsquos funeral draws crowds in Iran

Thousands of mourners have gathered for the funeral procession of Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of Hamas, who was killed in a strike in Tehran on Wednesday. The funeral is being led by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with Haniyeh expected to be buried in Qatar. Reports from US media indicate that Khamenei has ordered a direct response against Israel, which is alleged to have been behind the attack on Iranian soil. Israel has not issued an official comment on the assassination.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a recent address, acknowledged that Israel had dealt significant blows to its adversaries, including the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon shortly before the Tehran attack. Netanyahu warned of challenging times ahead, expressing readiness for any potential scenarios and emphasizing national unity in the face of growing regional tensions. “Since the strike in Beirut, we have heard threats from all sides,” Netanyahu stated.
