Responsibilities:
CAD/CAM Modelling & Multi-Axis Toolpath Generation: Use CAM software to create multi-axis CNC programs and interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
Machining Strategy & Cutting Tool Selection: Choose high-performance carbide tooling, inserts, and holders for a variety of metals, as well as the best order of operations, cutting feeds/speeds, depth of cut, stepovers, and coolant strategies.
CAMSimulation & CollisionVerification: Before shop floor execution, carry out comprehensive 3D CAM simulations and virtual machine verification to identify toolholder interference, fixture collisions, rapid-move mistakes, and gouge.
G-Code/M-Code Customisation & Post-Processing: Create bespoke macro programs for parametric family parts and use post-processors designed for particular machine controllers to generate and optimise G-code/M-code output.
ShopFloor Prove-Out & Process Optimisation: During first trial runs on the shop floor, collaborate with CNC Setters to resolve tool path problems, improve cutting settings, get rid of chatter, and shorten component cycle times.

Required Skills:
Advanced CAD/CAM tools Mastery: Expert-level competence in 3D CAD modelling platforms (SolidWorks, Inventor, UG-NX) and CAM programming tools (Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidCAM, Creo, PowerMill).
Multi-Axis Machining & Controller Expertise: proficiency with Fanuc, Siemens Sinumerik, Haas, and Heidenhain control systems and post-processors; profound knowledge of CNC lathes, VMC, HMC, 5-axis, and Mill-Turn centers.
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) & Blueprint Reading: Expertise in deciphering intricate technical drawings, GD&T symbols, surface polish specifications, and strict tolerance standards.
Cutting Tool Physics & Material Properties: Thorough understanding of the dynamics of metal cutting, speed/feed formulas, chip load calculations, tool wear mechanisms, and machining techniques for hardened steels, titanium, aluminium, nickel alloys, and stainless steel.
