Description
CNC Programmer Job Work Milling and Manufacturing
Job Description
Duties:
CAM Programming & Toolpath Generation: Using top CAM software, create effective multi-axis 2D, 3D, and multi-surface CNC/VMC programs.
Engineering Model Analysis & Blueprint Reading: To create the best machining sequences, analyse customer 3D CAD models and 2D production drawings, deciphering intricate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
Machining Process & Tooling Selection: Depending on the characteristics of the material, choose the suitable cutting tools, tool holders, cutting feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
Virtual Simulation & Crash Prevention: Before releasing programs to the shop floor, conduct thorough 3D machine virtual simulations and verification to identify possible toolpath collisions, gouges, or fixture interference.
Cycle Time & Toolpath Optimisation: To minimise production cycle times while optimising tool life, continuously optimise toolpaths, apply high-speed machining (HSM) techniques, shorten air-cutting durations, and improve G-code macros.
Focus Skills:
Advanced CAD/CAM applications Proficiency: Expert practical knowledge of 3D CAD and CAM applications.
G-Code/M-Code & Controller Knowledge: Proficient in macro programming, post-processor changes, significant controller logic, and raw G-code/M-code programming.
GD&T & Machining Process Engineering: Proficiency in interpreting GD&T symbols, surface finish requirements, tight tolerances, and workholding design concepts.
Cutting Speeds, Feeds, and Material Science: Comprehensive understanding of tool wear mechanisms, chip load calculations, metal cutting dynamics, and the best machining techniques for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
