The first two models will be launched as BMW iX xDrive40 and BMW iX xDrive50, with which the company also announces a small reorganization of their familiar name structure: While the number for classifying the performance in recent decades is always followed by an abbreviation for gasoline (i), diesel (d) or plug-in hybrid (e), the iX electric SUV comes without a corresponding letter at the end of the model name. The xDrive label still stands for all-wheel drive.
