Historical Significance of Balasore:
Balasore (or) Baleshwar (Lord Shiva) gets its name because of Lord Baleshwar. The other side of the reason behind the naming is that Balasore splits as Bala-e-shore, a Persian word meaning town in the sea, then the name changed by the Mughal dynasty. Another objective tells us that once King Mahabali did penance towards Lord Varun, the god of water, he blessed him by offering some lands of the sea by removing water, and only land full of sand to a certain extent, earned the name Baleswar, the city of sand.
