VMC Operator A Potential for Career Growth
Job Description
The main "Frontline Vertical Milling & Precision Production Specialist" for our shop floor and machining operations is the VMC Operator - Vertical Machining Center Operations, Precision Milling, Component Production & Quality Assurance. Your main responsibility is to set up raw stock, run 3-axis and 4-axis Vertical Machining Centers, monitor cutting cycles, carry out in-process dimensional inspections, and carry out precision milling, drilling, tapping, and boring operations while manufacturing engineers plan process sequences and CNC programmers write master CAM code. As the "Guardian of Milling Tolerances, Surface Finish Quality, First-Off Inspection, Tool Wear Management, and Zero Scrap Production," you assume direct responsibility for converting engineering designs into precisely machined parts.

Responsibilities:
VMC Setup & Machine Operation: On 3-axis or 4-axis Vertical Machining Centers, load workpieces, align clamping fixtures/vices, and run confirmed G-code/M-code programs.
Blueprint Reading and Feature Inspection: Examine technical engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and use callipers, micrometres, height gauges, and bore gauges to confirm milled dimensions (flatne).
Tool Wear Monitoring & Offset Adjustments: To ensure dimensional accuracy, check the edges of cutting tools, replace worn carbide inserts or tools, calibrate tool height offsets, and modify cutter radius compensation.
In-Process Quality Control & Defect Prevention: To avoid bulk defect batches, conduct initial and recurring in-process quality audits, document dimensions data on inspection sheets, and promptly isolate non-conforming parts.
Autonomous Maintenance & Chip Management: Perform daily Total Productive Maintenance tasks, such as clearing chip trays, checking pneumatic clamp pressures, monitoring way lubrication oil, and checking coolant concentration and levels.

Skills:
VMC Machine Operating & Milling Literacy: Strong practical knowledge of operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), navigating CNC control panels (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mitsubishi), and comprehending the fundamental execution of G-code and M-code.
Precision Metrology & Instrument Handling: Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as thread plug gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, dial test indicators (DTI), outside/inside micrometres, and vernier callipers.
The practical capacity to decipher mechanical drawings, section views, surface finish symbols, and GD&T characteristics (perpendicularity, parallelism, position tolerance, and flatness) is known as blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
Fundamentals of Cutting Tools and Fixtures: A thorough knowledge of milling cutters, carbide insert grades, drill/tap feeds and speeds, coolant application, chip packing problems, and vice/fixture clamping methods.

We invite you to apply and explore this exciting opportunity!
