Job Description
Duties:
Design, construct, and manage highly scalable relational databases, data models, tables, indexes, constraints, and relationships in Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle systems.
Complex SQL Development: To support business applications, data warehousing, and automated reporting, create, test, and manage sophisticated T-SQL/PL-SQL queries, views, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
Optimisation of queries and performance tuning: To guarantee sub-second response speeds under high transactional loads, analyse execution plans, find slow-performing queries, optimise indexes, rewrite subqueries and joins, and maintain database statistics.
ETL & Data Pipeline Automation: To extract, transform, and load data from various industrial sources into central data repositories, design and implement reliable ETL/ELT programs.
Data Integrity, Security, and Backup Management: To stop data corruption or illegal access, enforce database security procedures, role-based access controls, data encryption, transaction isolation levels, and data validation criteria.

Focus Skills:
SQL Dialects & RDBMS Mastery: Expertise in relational database management systems, with a focus on Oracle (PL/SQL), PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL), MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL).
Advanced proficiency in reading execution plans, spotting table scans, handling clustered and non-clustered indexes, dividing big tables, and resolving deadlock situations are all part of the query performance tuning and indexing strategy.
ETL & Data Warehousing: Dimensional data modelling ideas (fact and dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions) and a thorough understanding of SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or comparable ETL tools.
Database Administration Awareness: Basic to intermediate knowledge of server configuration tuning, transaction log management, replication, restoration procedures, and database backups.
