Moles and warts are two types of irregularities on the skin. Moles, also called nevus, grow on the skin from melanocytes, the same cells that provide the skin its color. Warts on the other hand are results of the presence of a virus called HPV or human papillomavirus. Moles can be flat spots, but can also be raised.
