The mango tree (Mangifera indica) is a tropical evergreen known for its delicious fruit, the mango. Native to South Asia, it is now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. The tree can grow as tall as 30–40 meters in the wild, though cultivated varieties are often shorter. Its long, glossy green leaves and fragrant clusters of small, pale flowers make it a visually appealing tree.
Mangoes, the fruit of the tree, are known for their sweet, juicy flesh and are rich in vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. They are enjoyed fresh, in smoothies, desserts, and various dishes. Mango trees require warm climates, ample sunlight, and well-drained soil to thrive. They are relatively drought-tolerant once established but do best with regular watering.
In addition to providing delicious fruit, mango trees also offer durable wood used in furniture, while their leaves hold cultural significance in some traditions. The mango tree truly is a symbol of tropical abundance.
